Pakistan’s star fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, expresses his excitement about leading the national T20 cricket team in a post on social media platform X, following his appointment as captain after the resignation of Babar Azam. Afridi thanks the Pakistan Cricket Board and fans for their trust and support, pledging to give his best to bring glory to the country. Emphasizing unity, he states, “Our success lies in unity, trust, and relentless effort. We are not just a team; we are a brotherhood, a family.”

In a parallel development, Shan Masood is appointed as the Test captain of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team until the end of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. The 34-year-old Shan, with 30 Tests under his belt, scoring 1,597 runs, including four centuries and seven half-centuries, will lead the team in a three-match Test series against Australia starting from December 14.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will captain the Pakistan Men’s Team in the T20I format. His inaugural assignment as captain will be the five-match T20I series in New Zealand from January 12 to 21. With 64 wickets in 52 T20Is, Shaheen Shah Afridi has also captained Lahore Qalandars in HBL PSL, leading them to victory in the 2022 and 2023 editions.
