The Asian Development Bank, alongside Centre Asia Regional Economic Cooperation has awarded Health Services Academy, Islamabad the novel title of Global Centre of Excellence, thereby cementing the institution’s status as one of 5 across the globe to obtain such recognition.
Advancement in Educational Services Relating to Public Health & Hygiene of Pakistan
Prof. Dr. Shahzad Khan, Vice Chancellor of the Health Services Academy, states that the educational institution and the country as a whole have achieved a significant milestone. This news highlights the achievements of the country’s foremost institution for public health at a time when the academy is under scrutiny for the overall performance of the country.
“It is an honor for the nation to obtain such stature as it portrays the leadership Pakistan has to provide in the field of Global Health. This, in turn, enables the country to actively participate and contribute in shaping the educational, research as well as the policy framework from the 11 member states of CAREC,” he added.
Increased Engagement Health Network Development
The Centers of Excellence initiative is a structure framework put in place to enhance the existing collaboration between the CAREC member countries to create an integrated system for training, policy formulation, and collective research. For Pakistan, HSA’s new role means greater involvement in:
- Cross-border health projects
- Capacity-building programs
- Curriculum standardization
