Tajikistan and Iran have initiated discussions to waive visa requirements for their citizens, marking a significant diplomatic development. President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran met in Dushanbe and signed 19 cooperative agreements, including a memorandum of understanding on visa exemption. This move underscores their commitment to promoting free movement for their citizens.
Another memorandum of understanding was also signed, focusing on international transit transportation via Chabahar Port, involving the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Road and Urban Development of Iran.
In addition to fostering tourism collaboration, the two leaders discussed improving air travel connections and simplifying entry and exit protocols. Further discussions on these matters will take place in the coming months.
